Chief Greg Weber Today is Police Chief Greg Weber’s last day in office.

Chief Weber was hired as an officer in Eden Prairie on May 7, 1990, and served in a variety of positions until he was promoted to Chief in September 2018. During his career, Chief Weber held the positions of patrol officer, field training officer, patrol corporal, patrol sergeant, liaison sergeant, Emergency Response Unit (ERU) team leader, patrol lieutenant, support lieutenant, investigations lieutenant, captain and deputy chief.

Early in his career Chief Weber earned a reputation as someone who was always willing to take on extra or unwanted projects. His attention to detail, along with his ability to see the big picture, served him well as he advanced through the leadership ranks.

During his tenure, Chief Weber oversaw extraordinary challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic. He managed these unprecedented events with compassion, determination and high-level strategic thinking. Chief Weber communicated extensively with department staff, the City Council and the community in order to foster confidence in the department’s ability to handle the challenges before them.

Chief Weber is known as a man who cares deeply for the members of his department. He shows this through big and small gestures including visits and phone calls to staff during difficult times, remembering family details of his staff and of course, treating people to lunch. He is deeply appreciative of the commitment of the EPPD staff and takes every opportunity to let them know it.

On behalf of the entire community, we thank Chief Weber for his dedication to the Eden Prairie Police Department and the residents of Eden Prairie. We are grateful for his leadership and wish him all the best in the next chapter of his life.
