It's National Volunteer Week and the EPPD is happy to celebrate our many wonderful volunteers who generously donate their time to keep our community safe!
- We appreciate the ministry of presence our eight volunteer chaplains bring to the Chaplain Unit. In 2021, they were called out 19 times to provide emotional and spiritual care to residents during emergencies.
- Our Explorer program helps young people ages 14–21 gain working knowledge of law enforcement through hands-on experience including weekly meetings and training sessions. These volunteers also provide valuable community service at public events such as Safety Camp, 4th of July, Night to Unite, the Ovarian Cancer Walk and Harvest to Halloween.
- Volunteers in our Reserve Unit contribute an average of 4,000 hours each year. Not only are these volunteers a friendly face in the community, they also respond to community service calls including car lockouts, animal control, traffic direction and minor medicals. The Reserve Unit takes applications year-round. If you are interested in joining this dedicated group of volunteers, visit edenprairie.org/EPPDReserves to learn more and fill out an application.
On behalf of a grateful department and community, we say thank you to our amazing volunteers!
