After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, last weekend the Edina/Eden Prairie Explorer Post attended the 47th annual Explorer Conference in Rochester, Minn. The Explorers competed against other posts from Minnesota, North Dakota and New York in a variety of team and individual events.

Our Explorers took home 15 team and individual awards, including: 

• First place award in Crime Scene Search
• Second place awards in Burglary Response and First Aid
• Third place awards in DWI Academics and Introduction to Narcotics Academics

Explorer Diego Jennings earned second place honors in both DWI and Rapid Fire Shoot while Joshua John took second place in Time Fire Shoot. Alyssa Wood received third place in DWI.

Police Explorers are young people ages 14–21 who are interested in law enforcement. They gain working knowledge through hands-on experience, including weekly meetings and training sessions. Since September, the explorers have spent more than 150 hours training for the conference.
