In honor of National EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Week, we would like to thank our primary EMS partner, Hennepin EMS, for helping to take care of our residents.
When we receive a 911 call for a medical situation such as a car crash, industrial accident or cardiac arrest, our dispatchers contact Hennepin EMS for an ambulance (in addition to dispatching Eden Prairie police officers and firefighters). In 2021, we received 2,728 medical calls.
Hennepin EMS paramedics also provide Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training to Eden Prairie police officers and firefighters who are all certified EMTs. The paramedics provide top-notch emergency medical education to our officers who are required to maintain their EMT certification by taking a refresher class every three years.
Hennepin EMS paramedics play a vital role in helping to keep our community safe and we appreciate the close working relationship we have with them. Thank you, Hennepin EMS!
