Run Against Human Trafficking

Post Date:06/01/2022 12:30 p.m.
Stop the Trafficking Run

Since 2016, Eden Prairie detectives have participated in 28 sting operations throughout the metro area that have resulted in the arrest of 312 individuals for human trafficking-related offenses. In addition, they have connected with 83 victims, offering them resources such as treatment, housing, jobs and life skills.

Investigators from Eden Prairie collaborate with federal, state and local law enforcement personnel on sting operations including the “494 Corridor Group” whose core members consist of the Bloomington,  Richfield, Minnetonka, Plymouth and Maple Grove Police Departments. Their goal is to investigate crimes related to human trafficking along Interstate 494.

One way you can help combat human trafficking is to the participate in the Stop the Trafficking Run either in-person at Purgatory Creek Park June 11 or virtually June 11–19.  Due to the race’s generous sponsors, 100% of the proceeds will go to organizations helping sexually-exploited youth and women including ACT United, Breaking Free, Corrie’s House, Terebinth Refuge and Shear Love.

A team comprised of representatives from the EPPD, local churches, businesses and the City of Eden Prairie’s Human Rights and Diversity Commission are working together to plan this event in cooperation with local anti-trafficking organizations. Their goal is to join together as a community, raise awareness and engage in the fight to stop trafficking.
