Sustainable Eden Prairie is an ongoing effort focusing on education and implementation of sustainable practices to protect the environment and natural resources our community enjoys.

Building upon the success of the 20-40-15 initiative, the City is leading by example and providing a foundation for residents and businesses to carry out sustainable practices in four areas — energy, landscape, waste and water.

To connect residents with the information and resources to reduce their home energy use and move to clean and renewable energy sources, the cities of Eden Prairie, Edina, Minneapolis and St. Louis Park have launched the Electrify Everything MN awareness and education campaign.

Significant progress continues to be made in cutting carbon emissions from energy production in Minnesota and there has never been a better time to begin exploring the transition from gas-powered appliances to electric-powered options.

The Electrify Everything MN campaign includes a series of workshops where residents can ask questions, explore high-efficiency electric heating/cooling systems and appliances, and learn how to access grants, tax credits and rebates to help pay for home energy projects.

The first round of free workshops are scheduled in May and residents of Eden Prairie, Edina and St. Louis Park can register to attend any of the workshops at ElectrifyEverythingMN.org.

May 3, 6–8 p.m. — Edina Public Works Building, 7450 Metro Boulevard

May 9, 6–8 p.m. — St. Louis Park Public Library, 3240 Library Lane

May 15, 6–8 p.m. — Eden Prairie Community Center, 16700 Valley View Road

There will be a second round of workshops this fall and the Electrify Everything MN campaign will also have a presence at local events in each community this spring and summer to share information, answer questions and help residents who want to take action.

For more information and resources, and to register for a workshop, visit ElectrifyEverythingMN.org.
