The EPPD is proud to announce that the department’s newest sergeant is Evan Hynek.

Sgt. Hynek grew up in Eden Prairie and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in sociology of law, criminology and deviance. Sgt. Hynek served as a part-time community service officer in Eden Prairie for two years before being hired as an officer on Sept. 26, 2016.

During his tenure in Eden Prairie, Sgt. Hynek has served on the SWAT team and Mental Health Unit, in addition to working as a patrol officer, field training officer and reserve coordinator.

Sgt. Hynek is also a captain in the Minnesota Army National Guard.
