Have a Happy and Safe Halloween!

Post Date:10/27/2023 8:00 a.m.

H to H 2023Harvest to Halloween 2023Thank you to everyone who celebrated Harvest to Halloween with us at Riley Lake Park on Oct. 14.

It was great to see you! And a special thank you to the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund for their generous donation of candy for the event.

Halloween is fast approaching and the EPPD would like to make this year’s Halloween as safe as possible. Here are a few tips:

  • When trick-or-treating outside, remember to carry a flashlight or put reflective tape on costumes.
  • Remind children to stay on sidewalks and cross at crosswalks. Twice as many kids are hit and killed by cars on Halloween than on any other day of the year.
  • Check over candy wrappers when children return home and discard any candy with torn or damaged wrappers.
  • Use battery-operated candles or glow sticks inside jack-o-lanterns instead of candles with flames.

Adult Halloween parties can lead to drinking and driving. Officers throughout the metro area will be patrolling for drunk drivers during the Halloween weekend. Check out this video from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety showing actual drunk drivers getting pulled over in Halloween costumes.

Have a happy and safe Halloween!
