Congratulations on Your Retirement Beth!

Post Date:01/16/2025 10:10 a.m.

Beth Sams

Tomorrow is last day of work for Dispatcher Beth Sams who has been employed with the City since June 1990.

She is the second longest tenured employee in the department, retiring after 34 ½ years. Beth was one of six dispatchers hired the year that Eden Prairie installed its own 911 radio system and worked on the very first day the system went live. Previously, the City had contracted with the City of Richfield to provide dispatch service for police cars, ambulance service and fire trucks. Beth is the last of the six to still work as an Eden Prairie dispatcher.

When Beth wasn’t busy answering calls, she also volunteered to wear the department’s McGruff costume to community events which involved donning a hot, furry, full-bodied costume in the summer months – not an easy job!

Beth was known throughout the department for her sense of humor, loyalty and friendly demeanor.

Congratulations Beth! We will miss you and wish you all the best in retirement.
