2024 Human Rights Awards

Members of the Human Rights and Diversity Commission announced the 2024 Human Rights Award winners at the May 20 City Council meeting. This year they recognized an individual, nonprofit organization and youth who have worked to create an inclusive community spirit through actions, activities or programs.

Individual Award — Rachel Casper

Youth Award — Naim Umar

Planning Commission Item

There is one new business item on the Tuesday, May 27 Planning Commission meeting agenda:

Dell Road MUSA Line Boundary (2025-05) — The Planning Commission will discuss an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan adjusting the Municipal Urban Service Area (MUSA) boundary affecting nine properties along Dell Road and Turnbull Road. The amendment addresses adjusting the land use designation for the properties and shifting the boundary between low-density residential and rural to correspond to the MUSA boundary, with low-density residential being north of the MUSA boundary line.

Friends of Eden Prairie Parks Update

The Friends of Eden Prairie Parks presented an update at the City Council workshop this week. The volunteer organization was founded in 2023 with a mission to assist the City of Eden Prairie with improving and maintaining biodiversity and enhancing the ecosystems within our natural spaces, including parks and preserves. In 2024, 66 active volunteers completed 366 volunteer hours and hosted over 48 restoration events. Learn more about their efforts at FriendsOfEPParks.org.

Green Line Extension Tour

Green Line Extension and SouthWest Transit staff are hosting a public bus tour of the western portion of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) corridor from SouthWest Station in Eden Prairie to the Shady Oak Station area in Minnetonka/Hopkins from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 13. Sign up for this or other tours taking place in June to learn about project progress, future testing phases, and future transit options to-and-from LRT stations; tour bus space is limited.

Staff News

Will Stefani recently joined the City as a utility field operator. Before coming to Eden Prairie, he worked at American Engineering Testing (AET). Will earned a bachelor's degree in geology from the University of North Dakota.

Holiday Hours

The City Center is closed Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. Holiday hours for other City facilities are available at edenprairie.org/Calendar.
