Riley Lake Beach Closed

Riley Lake Beach is temporarily closed following the detection of a blue-green algae bloom near the beach and boat launch. The closure will remain in effect until water quality tests confirm it is safe to reopen. Community Drop-Off Day Tomorrow

Get rid of unwanted items that can't be disposed of in your trash or recycling bin at Eden Prairie's free Community Drop-Off Day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21 at Hennepin Technical College (13100 College View Drive). Dispose of trash/refuse, construction debris, bikes and more. Open to Eden Prairie residents only with valid ID for proof of residency (driver's license, state ID or utility bill); proof of residency will be checked before vehicles are permitted to enter. Student Commission Members Appointed

At its June 17 meeting, the City Council appointed 35 high school students to serve on City commissions. The Students on Commissions Program is a great way for students to contribute to their community in an official capacity, while gaining valuable insight about municipal government. High school juniors and seniors who live in Eden Prairie are welcome to apply at the end of each school year. Elevate Hennepin Presentation

At its workshop this week, the City Council heard an update about Elevate Hennepin, a program that offers no-cost resources and areas of support for entrepreneurs, small businesses and "solopreneurs" in Hennepin County, including one-on-one advising, business strategy and marketing. City Government Academy Graduation

At the June 17 City Council meeting, participants graduated from City Government Academy, a free, six-week program offering Eden Prairie residents a behind-the-scenes look at how their City operates. Community Center Aquatics Recognition

For the third year in a row, the Aquatics program at the Community Center received the American Red Cross Training Services Recognition Award as a Top Training Provider in the U.S. With over 560 safety certifications in 2024 and status as a Gold Level Learn-to-Swim Provider, Eden Prairie Aquatics continues to make our community safer by teaching lifesaving skills. The high volume of training courses available to teens and adults include water safety, babysitting training, CPR, wilderness first aid and more. Planning Commission Item

There is one public hearing on the Monday, June 23 Planning Commission meeting agenda:

Veridian Credit Union — The applicant is requesting approval to redevelop the former Mister Car Wash site at 8280 Flying Cloud Drive into a credit union. The 0.77 acre site is located at the corner of Flying Cloud Drive and Middleset Road. The proposed credit union is a new 2,889-square-foot building with a drive-thru on the north side of the building. The property is located in a commercial area.

Flying Red Horse Ribbon Cutting

On Tuesday, June 17, Mayor Ron Case and City Council members dedicated the Historic Flying Red Horse alongside the Schwartz family who donated it to the City. The iconic sign served as an unofficial landmark of Eden Prairie when it was perched atop a local café and gas station many years ago.
