The City of Eden Prairie has been recognized for its outstanding commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, receiving the Best of B3 Award at the State of Minnesota’s 2025 Best of Buildings, Benchmarks and Beyond (B3) Recognition Event June 18.

The annual event honors public-sector organizations that demonstrate leadership in sustainable building operations and design. The City stood out for its ambitious efforts to improve energy performance across multiple facilities, including:

Maintenance Facility — Upgraded six rooftop HVAC units to high-efficiency models

Community Center — Installed high-efficiency air handling unit for Ice Rink #1

Fire Station #1 — Completed full HVAC upgrade, including new boilers, water heater, rooftop unit and air volume regulation system

Senior Center — Upgraded two rooftop HVAC units to high-efficiency models

Round Lake Park Building — Replaced 40-year-old structure with a state-of-the-art building featuring solar panels, green roof and geothermal heating and cooling

“These upgrades not only reduce our environmental impact but also result in long-term cost savings for taxpayers,” said Mayor Ron Case. “We’re proud to be recognized as a leader in sustainable municipal operations.”
