Picnic on the Farm

Save the date for Picnic on the Farm from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16 on the Dorenkemper House lawn at Riley Lake Park. The Eden Prairie Historical Society will lead tours of the historic home, one of the last remaining log-built homes in the City. The event includes free entertainment with food and beverages available for purchase. City Recognized for Sustainability Efforts

The City received a Best of B3 Award at the State of Minnesota's 2025 Best of Buildings, Benchmarks, and Beyond (B3) Recognition Event in June. The annual event honors public-sector organizations that demonstrate leadership in sustainable building operations and design. The City stood out for its ambitious efforts to improve energy performance across multiple facilities.

The City has also been recognized by Minnesota GreenStep Cities for attaining the program's highest level of achievement for a ninth time. Eden Prairie has been diligent in implementing best practices to meet its sustainability goals, including actions focusing on cost savings, energy-use reduction, resource conservation, climate change and the encouragement of civic innovation.

Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Board

The Hennepin County Board is recruiting volunteers for an at-large vacancy on the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Board for a three-year term. Board members may not be county, state or federal government public officials, and must reside in the district. Applications are open through 5 p.m. Thursday, July 31 at hennepin.us/AdvisoryBoards.

YTD June 30, 2025 Fire Department Statistics

  • Responded to 1,983 calls for service January through June 2025, compared to 1,529 calls for service January through June 2024.
    • 68% of calls were for medical events, 14% for fires and 18% for other events
  • 3,503 existing, new and rental occupancies were inspected to protect the health, safety and welfare of its residents
  • 10,123 training hours were completed between weekly, recruitment, specialized and professional development training events

Home Electrification Help

The City partners with the Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) to offer Eden Prairie residents a free service to achieve home electrification goals. Electrify Everything Minnesota advisors can answer questions and give advice about projects, and connect you to financing, rebates and high-quality contractors. Stop Food Waste Challenge

About 40% of food is wasted somewhere along the supply chain, and much of that food waste happens at home. Create your profile, join or start a team, then browse the categories and actions, and select which actions you’ll take during the four-week challenge. You'll learn practical tips to help reduce food waste, keep more money in your pocket and create a healthier environment.
