Highway 5 Weekend Closure

Highway 5 will be closed in both directions between Eden Prairie Road and Mitchell Road from 9 p.m. Friday, July 25 through 5 a.m. Monday, July 28. This closure is part of MnDOT’s project to repair concrete and improve safety along the route. Drivers will be detoured via Hwy 212 and Highway 41. Learn more on MnDOT’s project page.

PeopleFest! A Community Celebration of Culture

PeopleFest! kicks off this weekend with the main event — the PeopleFest! Party — from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 27 at the Central Middle School Performing Arts Center (8025 School Road). Additional PeopleFest! events are scheduled through Aug. 4. Learn more at edenprairie.org/PeopleFest.

Planning Commission Public Hearings

There are two public hearings on the Monday, July 28 Planning Commission meeting agenda for the following proposals:

Lower MN River Watershed District Zoning District Change — The applicant is requesting approval of a Zoning District Change for property south of an unimproved portion of the Riverview Road right of way along the Minnesota River in Section 35. The Lower Minnesota River Watershed District purchased a 4.2-acre piece of property from Greg and Kelly Hueler for a river bank stabilization project. The Watershed District is requesting a zoning district change from Rural to Parks and Open Space on its 4.2-acre property, while the Huelers will continue to own 10+ acres, which will remain zoned Rural.

Prairie Village Pet Hospital Addition — The applicant is requesting approval to construct an approximately 1,144 square-feet addition to an existing vet clinic. The property is located at 7815 Terrey Pine Drive. With the proposed addition, the building will be 3,139 square feet. The applicant is requesting two waivers from City Code requirements related to parking setbacks and impervious surface area to accommodate the building addition and required onsite parking.

Miller Park Courts Celebration

Join us for a community ribbon-cutting celebration at Miller Park (8208 Eden Prairie Road) from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 31 as we officially open Eden Prairie's newest pickleball, basketball and tennis courts. Enjoy activities including:

  • Ribbon-cutting ceremony
  • Prize drawings
  • Free refreshments
  • Friendly pickleball matches (all ages and skill levels)
  • Beginner pickleball and tennis lessons
  • Facilitated basketball games
  • Equipment available for on-site use

Movies in the Park

Beginning next week, Friday, Aug. 1, there are three Friday-night Movies in the Park events scheduled at Staring Lake Amphitheatre — "Raya and the Last Dragon," "Footloose" and "The Lego Movie." Movies begin at 9 p.m. with concessions and preshow entertainment starting at 7:30. Visit edenprairie.org/Calendar for details.

Eden Prairie Lions Annual Corn Feed

Join the Eden Prairie Lions Club at its annual Corn Feed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at Round Lake Park. Proceeds from the fundraiser support local community projects including Camp Eden Wood, local high school scholarships, PROP Food Shelf, Prop Shop and more.
