City Communications Team Earns State’s Top Honors
The City recently earned top honors at the annual Minnesota Association of Government Communicators Northern Lights Awards banquet, winning first place for both the Life in the Prairie newsletter and the Eden Prairie Brand Book rollout. This is the sixth time Life in the Prairie has been awarded first-place since its redesign in 2018.
In addition, Life in the Prairie was named 2025 Best of Show, the top award granted to a single entry that best demonstrates effective government communications. This is the second time the City’s newsletter has been voted Best of Show.
Highway 5 Weekend Closure

Night to Unite
Eden Prairie Night to Unite is Tuesday, Aug. 5. Each year, neighborhoods across the country dedicate one summer evening to celebrate and strengthen their commitment to a safe community. Representatives from the Police and Fire Departments, as well as several City officials, will visit many of the local celebrations that evening. Neighborhoods can also choose to participate in a food drive contest for Eden Prairie PROP.

City Volunteer Spotlight
Engineering Technician II Jackson Schulz-Applequist started volunteering at Fix-It Clinics in 2023 to broaden his repair horizons. Jackson views Fix-it Clinics as an excellent community resource and a great way to support the initiative of repairing broken things instead of throwing them away. As a volunteer, Jackson helps guide attendees through troubleshooting and teaches worthwhile repair skills.
Jackson typically helps repair small electronics and appliances. MacBooks and video game consoles are his favorite items to fix due to the level of diagnostics and soldering needed to repair them. Jackson's most memorable repair was replacing the USB-C charging port for a Nintendo Switch for a father and son duo. The son waited patiently, asked questions and learned a bit about soldering while Jackson took the console apart and replaced the port in time for a family road trip. Jackson often hears Fix-it clinic attendees remark on how fun and rewarding it is to fix something that had been broken for a while, and use their newly learned repair skills on other items around the house.
If you can troubleshoot repairs for broken items, consider volunteering at a Fix-It Clinic. Volunteer fixers who have skills in soldering, electronics repair, electrical repair, sewing, wood-working and general tinkering are essential to making the clinics successful.
