Last week, Eden Prairie’s SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) team participated in the Minnesota Tactical Officers Association’s annual conference at Camp Ripley along with 10 other teams consisting of 135 SWAT operators total.

Part of the conference is dedicated to hands-on training exercises and scenarios which are evaluated by host team SWAT members.

This year the EPPD SWAT team, which includes negotiators and tactical dispatchers, took home first place in the Top Gun category where teams are scored on a variety of firearm proficiency exercises and first place in the Iron Team competition, which is a series of timed individual and team events that measure operational fitness. In addition, one of the team’s operators took first place in the sniper competition.
