Staring Lake Dog Park Temporary Closure

The Staring Lake dog park will be closed for approximately 1 week starting Monday, Oct. 27. The closure is necessary to safely complete hazardous tree removal and hillside stabilization work. Portions of the parking lot will be partially closed for equipment and material staging. Visit edenprairie.org/DogParks for additional off-leash dog park locations.

Prescribed Prairie Burns

City parks and natural resources staff, with assistance from the Fire Department, are conducting prescribed prairie burns through November. Each prescribed burn is expected to last 1 to 3 hours. City staff will monitor weather conditions closely and coordinate with the DNR Wildfire program to determine ideal conditions for burns at the following locations:

  • Fire Station #2, 12100 Sunnybrook Road
  • Miller Park
  • Outdoor Center
  • Pheasant Woods Park
  • Rice Marsh Lake Park
  • Water Plant, 14100 Technology Drive
  • Water Storage Facility, 8251 Eden Prairie Road

Sustainable Eden Prairie Update

At its Tuesday, Oct. 21 Workshop, the City Council heard an update from Sustainability Coordinator Jen Fierce on progress toward achieving the City's Climate Action Plan goal of community-wide carbon neutrality by 2050. Yard Waste Disposal

Bring your fall leaves and other yard waste to Eden Prairie's Yard Waste Site located at 9811 Flying Cloud Drive through Sunday, Nov. 23. Visit edenprairie.org/YardWaste for hours and more information.

National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week

Oct. 19-25 is National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week and Hennepin County wants homeowners and landlords to know they may be eligible for help in detecting and removing lead paint. Learn more about the County's lead removal programs and the dangers of lead exposure at hennepin.us/LeadControl.

Crime Prevention Fund Fundraiser

Join the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund for its annual fundraiser from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 at Tavern 4&5 (16396 Wagner Way). The $40 ticket includes drinks and appetizers. Proceeds go to the Crime Prevention Fund to provide financial support for Police Department community outreach events. This is a 21+ event and guests must present their event ticket and valid ID to enter. Call Lisa Toomey at 952-388-8827 for tickets.

Citizens Academy for Seniors

If you're an Eden Prairie senior who has ever wondered what it’s like behind the scenes at the EPPD, here’s your chance to find out! The EPPD is offering Citizens Academy for Seniors, a four-week overview of the EPPD covering DWIs and traffic safety, investigations and internet safety. The classes run on Wednesdays, Nov. 19 and 26, and Dec. 3 and 10, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Senior Center, with lunch provided on the final day. The academy is sponsored by the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund. To register, email Officer Jason Hunt or call 952-949-6286 by Nov. 4.

Elementary Art Educator of the Year

Congratulations to Jules Belmont, Art Center studio technician and instructor, for being named Elementary Art Teacher of the Year by Art Educators of Minnesota! Jules brings creativity, passion and dedication to both her classroom at Oak Point Elementary and her work here at the Art Center. Her impact on students and the community is evident through her commitment to inspiring young artists and fostering a love for the arts.

Staff News

Becca Redman recently joined the EPPD as a police officer. Officer Redman has been a community service officer with the EPPD since June 2024 and joins 26 other current EPPD officers who also once served as Eden Prairie community service officers.
