Reminder: It is illegal to operate e-Motos—bikes with motors greater than 1,500 watts and capable of traveling more than 30 mph—on public roads or trails in Eden Prairie. They may only be used on private property.
On Friday, Oct. 24, Eden Prairie Police detained a 14-year-old who was operating an e-Moto on City streets at speeds up to 40 mph. The juvenile was arrested for fleeing police and for operating a motor vehicle without registration, insurance or a driver’s license.
Anyone operating an e-Moto illegally on Eden Prairie streets or trails will be stopped and may face misdemeanor charges. Parents who allow their underage children to ride e-Motos unlawfully may also face charges up to and including a gross misdemeanor.
