2026 City Budget Approved

The City Council unanimously approved the 2026 City budget and tax levy at its Dec. 2 meeting. The 2026 City budget is $66,847,061, a 6.5% increase compared to 2025, and the property tax levy is $50,119,782, a 5.6% increase compared to 2025. Eden Prairie’s City tax rate remains among the lowest when compared to metropolitan area suburbs, and its 2026 tax levy increase is the lowest. The proposed budget meeting presentation is available at edenprairiemn.gov/Budget. Final 2026 budget documents will be available online in January.

Community Center Day of Giving

The 8th annual Day of Giving at the Community Center is from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 6. Participate in fitness classes and bring a donation for one of the three charities we're supporting: PROP Food Shelf, Sojourner Project and Toys for Tots. This event is free for Community Center members, $12 for non-member/residents and $15 for non-member/non-residents.

Outdoor Center Holiday Market

The Outdoor Center is hosting a Holiday Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. The free event features curated collections of handcrafted, nature-inspired goods from talented local artists and crafters.

Share the Warmth Holiday Concert

Join the Eden Prairie Community Band for its annual Share the Warmth Holiday Concert, a free event from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Central Middle School Performing Arts Center (8025 School Road). Please bring non-perishable food items and/or warm clothing to donate to PROP Food Shelf and PROP Shop. Learn more about the band and upcoming concerts at EPCommunityBand.com.

Art Center Adult Open House

Join us from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at the Art Center for an adults-only evening of art with hands-on projects, live demonstrations and an opportunity to shop for unique, handmade goods. Admission is free.

'Mayor for a Day' Essay Contest

If you know a 4th, 5th or 6th-grader with big ideas for Eden Prairie, encourage them to enter the League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) 'Mayor for a Day' Essay Contest by answering the prompt: "What would you do if you were mayor for a day?" by Friday, Dec. 12. Three winners statewide will receive $100 and recognition in the LMC's Minnesota Cities Magazine. Find contest details at lmc.org/MayorForADay.

2026 Hennepin County Advisory Boards

Applications are now being accepted for multiple Hennepin County advisory board positions through its annual appointment process. Appointees advise county commissioners and help set policy on a variety of topics including mental health, workforce innovation and opportunity, race equity and more. Appointments to these positions are made during the first quarter of 2026. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, Dec. 31. For more information and to apply, visit hennepin.us/AdvisoryBoards.

Planning Commission Public Hearing

There is one public hearing on the Monday, Dec. 8 Planning Commission Meeting agenda for the following proposal:

Wings Financial Credit Union — The applicant is proposing to construct a 3,271-square-foot building in the northwest corner of the Cub Foods parking lot at 8015 Den Road. The proposed site plan includes a drive-thru for an XTM machine.
