2026 City Commission Work Plans

At this week's City Council Workshop, the Flying Cloud Airport Advisory (FCAAC) and Heritage Preservation (HPC) commissions presented their 2025 accomplishments and 2026 goals. The FCAAC highlighted efforts to educate flight schools on the noise nuisance of repetitive flight patterns to surrounding neighbors. The HPC highlighted progress on hiring consultants to research and author a book about the history of Native Americans in the Eden Prairie area. The City is fortunate to have knowledgeable and engaged commission members.

Pioneer Trail Bridge Project Virtual Open House

Hennepin County, in partnership with the City of Eden Prairie, is reconstructing a bridge on Pioneer Trail in 2026. Construction is expected to begin in April between Settlement Drive and Highview Drive in southwest Eden Prairie. A virtual open house is scheduled 5:30–7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 for residents to learn about the construction timeline, trail impacts, detour routes and what to expect during construction. View the project page to learn more.

Skate and Donate

Skate and Donate brings together skating, music and giving back. Enjoy complimentary skate rentals and hot cocoa from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 at Staring Lake Park (14800 Pioneer Trail) and bring donations for PROP Food Shelf to support local families in need.

Plastic-Free Challenge

Plastic creates waste and litter, contributes to climate change, pollutes water and harms wildlife. Be part of the solution and look after the health of future generations by joining the Plastic-Free Challenge and committing to actions that help create a plastic-free world. The challenge runs through the month of February. Visit TCPlasticFree.ecochallenge.org to learn more and register.

Winter Salt Awareness Week

Eden Prairie is participating in Winter Salt Awareness Week Jan. 26–30 to raise awareness about salt pollution and reduction solutions. The main ingredient used in road salt — chloride — is a pollutant, and when salt enters water it's more difficult for plants and animals to survive and reproduce. Find ways to reduce your salt use at edenprairiemn.gov/ReduceSaltUse.
