PROP Proclamation and Donation
At last week's City Council meeting, Mayor Ron Case presented PROP Food Shelf Executive Director Jenifer Loon with a proclamation declaring Feb. 17, 2026, as PROP Empty Bowls Day in support of the annual fundraiser. Visit propfood.org for details about the event.
At the same meeting, the City presented PROP with a $10,390.03 donation from last fall's Eden Prairie Liquor Dollar Drive. Throughout November, customers were invited to contribute just $1 each time they visited. Thank you to those who generously contributed to help our neighbors in need.
Words in Action Contest Winners
Winners of the 2026 Words in Action contest were recognized at this week's City Council meeting. Congratulations to Aanya, Asa, Itisha and Ryan for their winning entries. Contest participants were asked to submit art, writing or digital media inspired by a quote from a Black American civil rights leader. The contest committee selected winning entries and honorable mentions, each receiving cash prizes made possible through the generous support of the Eden Prairie Community Foundation. 2026 Commission Work Plans
At this week's City Council workshop, the Sustainability and Human Rights and Diversity (HRDC) commissions presented their 2025 accomplishments and 2026 goals. The HRDC reported positive community engagement activities last year, including the Words in Action contest and Human Rights Awards, and shared upcoming initiatives, including community conversation events and increased youth engagement. The Sustainability Commission reported successful recycling events and a student commission member-led clothing swap, and shared new initiatives for 2026, including additional planned student-led events and other recycling events and educational opportunities. The City is fortunate to have knowledgeable and engaged commission members.
Art Center Youth Open House
Bring your family to the annual Art Center Youth Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. During this free event, explore the Art Center, enjoy teacher demonstrations and hands-on projects, play some yard games and more.
2026 CDBG Annual Action Plan Draft Comment Period
The City of Eden Prairie is soliciting public comments on its 2026 draft Annual Action Plan which will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in May 2026. The 2026 draft Annual Action Plan is available for public comment for a 30-day period beginning Feb. 13, 2026, and ending March 16, 2026. Written and verbal comments must be submitted by 4:30 p.m., March 16, and be emailed/addressed to Elizabeth Springer, City of Eden Prairie, Housing and Community Services, 8080 Mitchell Road, Eden Prairie, 55344. Comments will be included in the documents submitted to HUD.

Citywide Work Plans
This week was the annual all-employee meeting where department directors presented accomplishments from last year and highlighted what is planned for 2026. City staff members compile projects and priorities that align with achieving the City's goals to develop work plans for each department and division. The plans help departments strategize, plan ahead and budget appropriately.
