New Mobile Command Center
The Police and Fire Departments officially introduced a new Mobile Command Center (MCC) at a special event Tuesday, April 7. The upgraded MCC replaces a smaller vehicle that had been in service for 24 years, and was officially placed into service March 11, 2026. As the name suggests, it functions as a mobile command center, supporting response efforts during critical incidents, natural disasters, community events and regional emergencies. In addition to serving Eden Prairie, the MCC is available to assist neighboring agencies — including Edina, Hopkins, St. Louis Park and Minnetonka — during large-scale emergencies, strengthening regional collaboration and emergency response capabilities.
Art Center Donation
The City Council accepted a generous anonymous donation of $50,000 this week to fund an Art Center internship program. The year-round internship will provide a wide breath of experiences in visual and performing arts, programming, events, marketing, Art Center management and creative storytelling to help foster a bridge between the Art Center and the diverse community it serves.

Utilities Field Operators Spotlight
Eden Prairie’s Utilities Division field operations team maintains critical infrastructure that supports daily life, including 419 miles of water main, 4,500 fire hydrants, 343 miles of sanitary sewer and 210 miles of storm sewer.
The 16-person team ensures reliable drinking water, sanitary sewer collection and stormwater management, while meeting state and federal regulatory standards. All team members are certified through the Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, completing rigorous training to safely operate and maintain these systems.
The team also respond to emergency water main breaks, with crews on call 24/7/365. They handle an average of 10-12 repairs annually — often overnight, on holidays or during severe weather. Responses include identifying and isolating leaks, coordinating utility locates, managing traffic control, completing repairs and restoring safe water service for affected residents and businesses.
The City is fortunate to have dedicated utilities field operators whose expertise helps ensure safe drinking water and minimizes service disruptions for the community.
