e-Bike, e-Scooter and Motorized Bike Rules in Eden Prairie

Not all two-wheeled electric vehicles are the same. Before you ride or buy, know the difference between e-Scooters, e-Bikes, motorized bikes and e-Motos — and the rules for each.

Minimum Age Requirements

  • e-Scooters: 12
  • e-Bikes: 15
  • Motorized Bikes: 16

Note: e-Motos are not allowed on public property in Eden Prairie. Learn more about the differences and the legal requirements for each at edenprairiemn.gov/BikeSafety.

Call for Arts in the Park Artists

The City is accepting applications from artists and vendors for the Arts in the Park event on Saturday, Aug. 15, with applications due Sunday, May 31. This annual community art fair features shopping, live music, lawn games, art activities and food trucks — all within the beautiful setting of Purgatory Creek Park. Spring Car Seat Clinic

Certified EPPD car seat technicians will check your car seats for proper installation at this free clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 2 at Fire Station 1 (14800 Scenic Heights Road). There are no appointments needed — participants will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring your car seat, manual and child to the clinic and please stay in your car until a staff member approaches you.

Free Smart Thermostats for Eden Prairie Businesses

Eden Prairie businesses are eligible for free ecobee smart thermostats as part of Xcel Energy's AC Rewards Smart Thermostat program which is operated in partnership with the Center for Energy and Environment. Smart thermostats allow you to monitor your property’s HVAC system remotely and control multiple thermostats from one device, and the AC Rewards program includes annual bill credits for each thermostat installed. The City's Spring Employee Recognition Event took place this week to welcome new employees, recognize employees with milestone service anniversaries and present our annual "EPy" Awards to employees who consistently go above and beyond to serve the people of Eden Prairie.

Parks and Recreation Updates

  • Parks maintenance crews continue prepping the City's outdoor facilities for the summer season.
  • Construction is underway on a new cricket pitch at Flying Cloud Fields. This project is a partnership with the Minnesota Cricket Association which is providing funding for its construction.
  • Residents are invited to the City's Arbor Day Celebration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at Staring Lake Park.
  • Residents and photographers are reminded to stay on the paved trail at the Prairie Bluff Conservation Area as restoration work continues.

Police Department Updates

  • Two Intensive Comprehensive Peace Officer Education and Training (ICPOET) candidates were recently hired to complete a 20-week program for individuals who have earned a 2- or 4-year degree in another field and want to work in law enforcement. The program begins in April and both candidates are anticipated to be sworn in as police officers in September.
  • A new monthly 911 dispatcher training program was recently implemented that uses AI-simulated 911 calls, with the ability to create infinite training scenarios.
  • The EPPD is preparing to move into its new remodeled space on the west side of City Center this summer, learn more about the project.
