May is Senior Awareness Month, a time to celebrate and acknowledge the contributions and accomplishments of older adults, to recognize organizations that serve older adults and to enhance community involvement across generations.

The City has celebrated Senior Awareness Month since 1993.

The Police Department participated in two Senior Awareness Month events this month. First, they attended a tasting contest at Valley View Cooperative on May 12 where members of the Police and Fire Departments along with City Manager Rick Getschow were asked to do the difficult job of tasting a variety of home-baked treats and ranking them.

Then last night, guests at the Senior Center enjoyed a catered dinner which was served by police officers and firefighters as part of the Senior Awareness Dinner.
