Prior to its June 16 meeting, City leaders and Police Department employees dedicated the new Police Department facility on the west side of City Center at 8080 Mitchell Road.

Construction on the project began in spring 2025 and marks a significant milestone for the Police Department, which has operated from the basement of City Center for more than 30 years. During that time, the department and its vehicle fleet have nearly doubled in size.

July Move-In

Police Department employees will move into the new facility throughout July. The department’s new lobby and reception area is expected to open to the public in mid-July, and the address and phone number (952-949-6200) will remain unchanged.

Built for the Future

“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Eden Prairie Police Department,” said Police Chief Matt Sackett. “After more than 30 years in our current location, this new facility provides the space and resources needed to support our employees and continue delivering the exceptional public safety service our community deserves.”

The new facility is designed to support current and future public safety needs by providing expanded office and training space, enhanced detention and evidence processing areas, indoor vehicle storage and updated technology. The project also creates a dedicated public entrance and incorporates features that support the City’s sustainability goals.
