Valley View Road Closure

To provide safe pedestrian access for the City's 4th of July Hometown Celebration events this weekend, Valley View Road will be closed between Eden Prairie Road and Hames Way during these busy times:

July 3 — 5 p.m.–midnight
July 4 — 3 p.m.–midnight

For accessible parking during road closures (with valid permit only), enter Eagle Way from Eden Prairie Road, then drive through the Community Center parking lot to Valley View Road and present your permit.

Summer Concerts Kick Off Next Week

Next week the Starring at Staring concert series at the Staring Lake Park Amphitheatre (14800 Pioneer Trail) begins with three bands: LP and the 45s Thursday, July 9, Galactic Cowboy Orchestra Friday, July 10 and Church of Cash Sunday, July 12. All performances start at 7 p.m., bring a lawn chair or blanket. Concessions available for purchase, or bring your own picnic and refreshments. Police Department Updates

• Officer Chad Streiff received three awards from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in May for his work arresting impaired drivers: MADD Hero, MADD’s Outstanding First Responder and the Gold Pin Award which is given to officers who made more than 100 DWI arrests the previous year. Last year Officer Streiff made 142 arrests — the sixth-highest number in Minnesota.
• In observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15, EPPD officers, reserves and cadets honored fallen peace officers by standing watch at the state's Peace Officers Memorial in 20-minute shifts and wearing mourning badges throughout the day. The Reserves Color Guard also lowered all City flags to half-staff.
• 14 students participated in the second annual Youth Citizens Academy in June.

Staff News

Grace Kennedy recently joined the City as an office support coordinator in the Administration Department. Grace earned her bachelor's degree in communications from Minnesota State University-Moorhead.
