Communications Manager Joyce Lorenz has received the Scott Pengelly Lifetime Achievement Award from the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC), the organization's highest individual honor recognizing exceptional leadership and lasting contributions to public-sector communications.

Throughout her 20-year tenure with the City of Eden Prairie, Lorenz has transformed the City's communications program into a strategic, digital-first operation focused on transparency, accessibility and engagement. Her leadership has strengthened the City's brand, modernized communications, guided the organization through complex issues and fostered a culture of excellence that has earned more than 60 regional and national awards.

Through these efforts, she has helped residents better understand the services, projects and people that make Eden Prairie a great place to live and work.

"Joyce has shaped not only how the City communicates, but how residents experience their local government," said City Manager Rick Getschow." Her leadership, innovation and unwavering commitment to excellence have strengthened public trust, elevated our organization and set a high standard that continues to inspire others. This recognition reflects the extraordinary impact she has had on Eden Prairie and the government communications profession."

"I'm humbled and honored to receive this award and grateful to the many colleagues, City leaders and residents I've had the privilege of working alongside over the past 20 years," Lorenz said. “I'm proud of what we've accomplished together, and I truly appreciate everyone whose contributions made this recognition possible."

Lorenz received the award July 15 at MAGC's annual Northern Lights Awards ceremony.
