Eden Prairie, Minn. — It’s official! Today the Wyland Foundation announced the winning cities of the “Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation” on the mywaterpledge.com website, and Eden Prairie won the Midwest region versus other cities in the 30,001–100,000 population category.

In March, Mayor Nancy Tyra-Lukens challenged Eden Prairie residents to commit to conserving water and cutting pollution by participating with online pledges. The Water Conservation Challenge took place throughout the month of April as a friendly competition between residents of cities across the nation to see who can be the most “water-wise.”

Since Eden Prairie won the Midwest region with the highest percentage of residents taking the pledge, those who participated in Eden Prairie are now eligible to win prizes, such as water-conserving showerheads and gift cards, and the grand prize Toyota Prius Hybrid. According to the mywaterpledge.com website, prize winners will be notified in the next few weeks.

The other winning cities are Laguna Beach, Calif., Victoria, Minn., South Shore, Ky., Charlestown, N.H., Manhattan Beach, Calif., Fort Pierce, Fla., Quakertown, Pa., Greeley, Colo., Madison, Wis., Charlottesville, Va. and Toms River, N.J.
