Captain Chris Wood began his career in Eden Prairie as a park ranger in 1998. He was hired as an officer in 1999, promoted to sergeant in 2004 and promoted to lieutenant in 2018.

During his tenure, Deputy Chief Wood has worked as a field training officer, SWAT team member and sergeant, training sergeant, adult investigations sergeant, Support Division lieutenant, Patrol Division lieutenant and SWAT commander.

Deputy Chief Wood earned a bachelor's degree in wildlife and fisheries biology from North Dakota State University.
