When Kristen (she/her) teaches writing classes, she wants participants to experience writing as fun and inviting. She likes to use a variety of creative tools to help prompt writing ideas and ways of expression. Kristen also like to work with other Art Center instructors to create a mixed media experience where visual arts, music and other mediums intersect and inspire each other. Kristen holds a Masters of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of Michigan. She has taken several classes at the Loft Literary Center and completed the Iowa Summer Writers Workshop.

Kristen lives in Northfield with her family, where she is involved with the local arts community. She is on a mission to visit all Minnesota state parks with her high school-aged daughter. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family and downhill skiing.
