Residents must bring a driver's license or utility bill with an Eden Prairie address for proof of residency. Landlords or business owners must bring a utility bill or business card with an Eden Prairie address.

Please note: Commercial haulers or commercial landscapers are not allowed access to the site, regardless of the address the material originated from or the location of the business.

Hours

The Yard Waste Site typically opens the last Friday in April and closes the Sunday before Thanksgiving, weather permitting.

*Closed Monday through Thursday the entire season, as well as Easter, Memorial Day, Juneteenth Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day.

Additional Information

Use caution when entering and enter at your own risk
Materials must be separated, debagged and unloaded by the resident
Empty bags (plastic, paper, compostable, biodegradable, etc.) must be taken by users, there are no trash receptacles onsite
Loads shall be secured into and out of the site to ensure no material is lost in transport; failure of user to secure load can result in the denial of future access
Users shall not enter restricted areas
Smoking in the Yard Waste Site is prohibited
No compost is produced on-site, nor is it available for free pickup. Compost is available for sale at Dakota Prairie Composting in Shakopee.

Dirt, rocks and lumber dropped in the yard waste site can cause serious damage to our equipment. Any loads found containing prohibited material will be rejected and users could be subject to fines, as well as denied future use of this site.

The City has a right to deny service to any users who fail to comply with site guidelines.

- Can I bring more than one type of yard waste material?
  You are welcome to bring as many accepted materials as needed, as long as they are separated. The Yard Waste Site does not accept mixed loads.
- Does the City offer yard waste curbside pick-up for residents?
  The City does not offer curbside pickup, this can be arranged through your trash hauler.
- What can I do if the yard waste I need to dispose of isn't accepted at the City's Yard Waste Site?
  There are several other drop-off facilities with larger capacities for yard waste available to residents of Hennepin County. Learn more at hennepin.us/YardWaste.
- What identification is needed to use the Yard Waste Site?
  Residents must bring either a driver's license or utility bill with an Eden Prairie address. Landlords or business owners must bring a utility bill or business card with an Eden Prairie address.
- Where is Eden Prairie's Yard Waste Site located?
  The Yard Waste Site is located south of Pioneer Trail and across from Flying Cloud Airport at 9811 Flying Cloud Drive.
- Why can’t I just put my yard waste in the garbage?
  It is illegal to put yard, garden, and tree waste into the garbage.
  
  Bring yard waste to a designated drop-off site, have it picked up by your trash hauler during seasonal yard waste collection, or compost yard waste at home.
- Why can’t I leave paper disposal bags at the Yard Waste Site?
  You can bring your material in bags but everything must be removed from the bags at the site and the bags must go home with you. No biodegradable bags are accepted because they do not decompose at the same rate as yard waste.
- Why does the Yard Waste Site close at 5 p.m. during the fall season?
  Since the amount of available daylight decreases in late fall, the site closes earlier to ensure a safe environment for maneuvering vehicles and trailers.
- Why is the Yard Waste Site only open during the week on Fridays after 2 p.m.?
  The Yard Waste Site is utilized by the City's Streets, Utilities and Parks Maintenance staff for their daily operations. To avoid traffic conflicts and safety issues the site opens for residents after regular facility operational hours.
  
  The site is closed Monday through Thursday so maintenance staff can grind wood, haul out materials and perform general cleanup.
