Eden Prairie, Minn. — On Thursday, Aug. 1 at approximately 8 p.m., the Eden Prairie Police and Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Eden Prairie Road (Hwy. 4) and Park Terrace Drive.

The single vehicle involved in the incident, a Chevrolet Corvette, was traveling south on Eden Prairie Road with two adult male occupants. Near the intersection of Kurtz Lane, the vehicle left the roadway and struck two utility poles before rolling over and coming to a stop. Both occupants, who were ejected from the vehicle, were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where one of the adult males succumbed to his injuries.

A preliminary investigation indicates excessive speed likely played a role in the accident. The resulting property damage, which occurred when the vehicle struck two utility poles, also caused a temporary power outage in portions of Eden Prairie.

The Eden Prairie Police and Fire Departments were assisted on the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.

Eden Prairie Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident and no further details are available at this time. Identification of the fatally injured occupant will be made by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
