Police Chief James DeMann Announces Retirement
Police Chief James DeMann announced his retirement after more than three decades of service to this community. Chief DeMann's retirement will be effective Sept. 28, 2018, and Deputy Chief Greg Weber will become Chief of Police effective Sept. 29, 2018. We are thankful for the distinction with which Chief DeMann has served the Police Department and the Eden Prairie community over his 31-year career, and we wish him well in his retirement. Read about Chief DeMann's service and legacy of dedication as well as the City's next steps.  

Staring Lake Pickleball Courts
The Staring Lake pickleball courts opened the morning of Aug. 3 and have already had many visits from pickleball players of all skill levels. City staff recently received feedback on the newly constructed courts:

• "The open walk way between courts is a HUGE benefit and is how ALL courts should be designed in the future"
• "Multiple gates to enter throughout"
• "Courts are good size with good room to play all around"
• "Wind screens were put up right away/initial buildout vs waiting years"
• "Awesome permanent umbrellas"
• "Great area for players to place bags and chairs in the walkway"
• "Some courts are near trees providing shade to those that need less sun exposure"
• "Gates appear large enough to accommodate wheelchairs"

Financial Report
The 2018 Second Quarter Financial Report [PDF] is now available. This report provides a summary of June 30, 2018, financial results for the City. Pool Closure
Between Aug. 27–Sept. 7, the Aquatics Center's recreation pool, hot tub and water slide will be closed for annual maintenance. The Community Center has made every effort to provide well-rounded offerings during these maintenance windows. Please visit edenprairie.org/Aquatics for updated schedules each week.
