City Council Approves Aquatics Center Project

“Phase one of the project is underway,” said Jay Lotthammer, parks and recreation director. “And we hope to complete this first phase in the spring of 2015.”

competition pool viewPhase one of the Aquatics Center project will include the following additions:

  • Two 8-lane pools— Competition Pool A will have water depths from 4.5 to 7 feet. Competition Pool B will have water depths of 3.5 to 12 feet, including two diving boards and a climbing wall.
  • Men's and women's wet locker rooms
  • Spectator seating for 300
  • Multipurpose room
  • Dry land training room
  • Expansion of the fitness floor and cardiovascular equipment
  • Group fitness Studio C
  • Expansion of group fitness Studio A
  • Accessible fitness area restrooms

“Our goal is for this project to have a minimal impact on Community Center patrons,” said Wendy Sevenich, Community Center manager. “The current swimming pool will remain open for use during phase one of the project.”

Phase two of the project is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2015, at which time the current Community Center pool area will be renovated.

  • Water slide with plunge pool
  • Expanded family locker rooms
  • Multipurpose room

“If everything goes as planned, the entire project should be complete in the spring of 2016,” said Lotthammer. “
