Eden Prairie has been declared the ninth safest city in Minnesota by Safe Choice Security.

The southwest suburb of Minneapolis is one of the top three largest cities on the list of 21. The "relatively low crime rate" in a larger Minnesota city was an important factor in Eden Prairie's placement on the list. Safe Choice Security also noted in its blog that the City's Police and Fire Departments are "committed to communication and emergency preparedness," which are pivotal for a suburb with more than 60,000 residents.

“To be acknowledged as one of the safest cities in the state is an honor that speaks to the high caliber of service provided by our public safety officials,” said Mayor Nancy Tyra-Lukens.

To determine the list of safest cities, Safe Choice Security compared the crime statistics of more than 300 Minnesota cities.
