Spring/Summer Program Registration

PROP Empty Bowls Day

At Tuesday's City Council meeting, Mayor Ron Case presented PROP Food Shelf Executive Director Jenifer Loon with a proclamation declaring Feb. 20, 2024, as Empty Bowls Day in support of the annual fundraiser. Visit PROPFood.org for details.

Commission Work Plans

At this week's City Council Workshop, the Planning and Heritage Preservation commissions presented their 2023 accomplishments and 2024 goals. The Planning Commission provided an overview of notable development projects in 2023 and 2024 goals that include implementing strategies of Aspire Eden Prairie 2040, the City's comprehensive plan for the next 20 years. In 2023 the Heritage Preservation Commission visited several historical sites to document the past and help plan for the future.

2023 Fire Department Statistics

  • The Fire Department (EPFD) responded to 3,272 calls for service in 2023, a decrease of 4% from calls for service in 2022
    • 68% were for medical events
    • 24% were for fire events
    • 8% were for other events
  • The EPFD inspected 4,481 existing, new and rental occupancies to protect the health, safety and welfare of its residents
  • The EPFD welcomed nine new Duty Crew firefighters
  • 13,128 training hours were completed by firefighters encompassing weekly, recruit, specialized and professional development training events

Staff News

Keith Bartos has been promoted to park maintenance supervisor. He has been a member of our parks maintenance team since 1999, first as a parks maintenance specialist and then he was promoted to the technical lead-horticulture specialist role in 2013. Keith will now use his vast knowledge of our park system to help lead our maintenance team.

  • The Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12 in the Council Chambers
  • The Sustainability Commission meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 in the City Center Heritage Rooms
  • The City Council meets at 5:30 p.m. for a workshop in the Heritage Rooms prior to its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 in the Council Chambers
