PeopleFest! Grant
The Parks and Recreation Department was awarded a Minnesota Festival Support Grant of $10,042 from the Minnesota State Arts Board. These funds will help support PeopleFest! A community Celebration of Culture in 2020, specifically arts-based activities for the festival, including performance stipends and hands-on arts activities.
Now Accepting Sustainable Eden Prairie Award Nominations
The City is accepting nominations for the annual Sustainable Eden Prairie Award. This award recognizes significant and innovative investments that contribute to the overall vitality and sustainability of the community. Eligible entries include property improvements and organized programming or initiatives related to the four Sustainable Eden Prairie focus areas: energy, landscape, waste and water. The nomination deadline is 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. Visit edenprairie.org/SustainableAward for more information and the nomination form.
Solar Power Hour/Energy Bill Clinic
Solar Power Hour events are presented by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association to promote renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable living to homeowners and business owners across the Twin Cities metro. At Eden Prairie's free event Monday, July 29, learn about the Solar Twin Cities group buy program designed to help lower the cost of going solar, and ways to reduce energy costs and get your home or business's solar potential assessed. The event is scheduled from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Community Center.
In conjunction with the Solar Power Hour event, the Citizens Utility Board of Minnesota, a nonprofit consumer advocate, is offering free, 20-minute energy bill consultations for Eden Prairie residents by appointment from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center. New Pump Station and Water Storage Reservoir Project Begins
This week residents will begin to notice preconstruction work for the new pump station and water storage reservoir project being built to support the expansion of Eden Prairie’s water service and improve system reliability. The project is located on the north side of Highway 212, just east of Eden Prairie Road. Initial project activity includes the removal of trees and other vegetation, and grading work to prepare the site for construction, which is expected to be completed in October 2020.
