Art on City Walls

Originally created in 1980, Art on City Walls is an opportunity for local and regional artists to exhibit their work in City facilities.

Exhibits are free and open to the public.

Onesss... We the People is a canvas painting in the style of Warli art.

The Warli art form dates back to the 10th century from the tribal community based in Maharashtra, India, and is representative of togetherness. For this piece, artist Shruti Aiyar blends Warli motifs with contemporary elements as a representation of their modern-day community.

"Just like the different colors of the spectrum blend into each other while retaining the originality, we individuals must create a society of inclusion and embrace the uniqueness of every individual, while bring true to oneself," said Aiyar. "Let us build a community where being different equals being loved, being valued, being respected and being ourselves."

The installation can be viewed at the Art Center during Open Studio Hours.

Exhibit Criteria

Media ranging from photography and paintings to murals and collages are considered for exhibition.

Up to 20 pieces of art may be shown, depending on size
2-dimensional works must be framed and ready to hang with wire/cable
Paintings do not need to be framed, but they must prepared to hang with wire/cable; a hanging system with hooks is provided by the Art Center
3-dimensional works must be less than 18-inches high by 24-inches wide and 8-inches deep
Artwork is hung in the Art Center hallways and common areas; additional exhibition space is available at the Senior Center.

Applications are accepted until Dec. 1 for the next calendar year's exhibition calendar. Artists are chosen based on merit and preference is given to Eden Prairie artists.

If you do not have enough pieces for your own exhibit, we can schedule your show with one or more other artists. Please note this on your application. If you would like to schedule an open house during your exhibition you will be able to do so Monday–Thursday evenings at any time during your exhibition.
