2018 Human Rights Award
The City is now accepting nominations for the annual Human Rights Award, which recognizes inspiring efforts that work to promote human rights and diversity, and to create an inclusive community spirit. Individuals who know of a deserving person, youth, non-profit organization or business are encouraged to visit edenprairie.org/HumanRightsAward for more details about the program and a link to the online nomination form. Nominations are due Thursday, Feb. 28.
City Newsletter Featured in Minnesota Cities Magazine
Last spring, the Communications Division received a number of local and national awards recognizing the innovative redesign of the Life in the Prairie [PDF] City newsletter. As a result, editors from Minnesota Cities [PDF], a publication of the League of Minnesota Cities, invited Senior Communications Coordinator Katie Bengtson to write an article for the "Message Matters" column of the publication, highlighting the strategy behind the award-winning City newsletter redesign project. The article, Message Matters: Redesigning City Newsletters in the Era of Plain Language, was featured in the January/February 2019 issue of Minnesota Cities.
City Commission Recruitment
Eden Prairie residents are invited to apply for City commissions through Monday, Feb. 4. The City Council values the input of residents and provides opportunities for participation through six advisory commissions. Applicants must live in Eden Prairie. Applications and the recruitment timeline can be found at edenprairie.org/Commissions. The City is recruiting new members for the following six commissions:
State of the City
The 2019 State of the City Luncheon is Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bearpath Golf and Country Club. This annual Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce event include updates from the Chamber President, Eden Prairie Schools Superintendent and the City Manager. More information and registration is available on the Chamber's website.
Winter Blast Rescheduled
Due to the extreme cold forecast for Jan. 25, Winter Blast has been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 15.
