• Do not use beach if you are sick or have been exposed to someone who is sick.
• Maximum capacity of 75 swimmers in the water will be allowed and will be determined by the head lifeguard.
• Please be respectful of head lifeguard and staff decisions. You will be asked to leave if you are warned more than once for not following guidelines.
• Swim at your own risk when lifeguard is not on duty.
• Swimming is allowed only in the designated swim areas.
• Children 7 and under must be actively supervised by someone age 16 or older at all times and within an arm's reach of the child.
• Swimmers who are not potty-trained must wear proper swim pants with snug-fitting elastic legs and waists.
• Glass containers, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, and smoking or vaping any substance are not permitted.
• Fishing is not allowed within 100 feet of the beach area.
• Inflatables are not allowed in the swim area.
• U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal flotation devices (PFDs) are allowed for children who have an individual 16 years of age and older, in the water, within arms reach of the child.
• Dunking, rough housing, shoulder rides or pushing are not allowed.
• No throwing sand, sticks, rocks or beach debris.
• No fins, snorkels, kickboards or mats (see head lifeguard if you need clarification).
• Pets are not allowed on the beach.
• No swimming in unauthorized areas.
• Groups of 20 or more cannot be accommodated in the water without two weeks notice with the aquatics supervisor. Groups who arrive unannounced may be asked to exit the water.
• Groups of 20 or more require a large group permit, per city ordinance. Call 952-949-8333 or contact the Parks and Recreation Department to find out more about applying for a permit.

Testing

Hennepin County Public Health samples and analyzes 31 public beaches in the county to ensure the water quality is safe for swimming and has authority to close contaminated beaches.

When an Eden Prairie beach is closed, notices are posted at the top of this page, at edenprairiemn.gov/Updates and at the beach.

Blue-Green Algae

Beach water may contain blue-green algae that can be harmful to humans and pets.

To reduce the risk of illness:

• Do not swim, water-ski or tube if the water looks like spilled green paint or pea soup
• Avoid swallowing water and watch small children and pets who may ingest water
• Rinse off with clean water after swimming
• Stay away from areas of scum when boating
• Contact your healthcare provider or veterinarian if you or your pet become sick after swimming
