The sledding hill and warming house are closed for the season.

While this area serves as an off-leash dog park in the spring, summer and fall, it transforms into a scenic cross-country skiing destination in the winter.

Trails are groomed by Eden Prairie High School after each significant snowfall, weather permitting.

Heads up: The trails are often used by the Eden Prairie High School Nordic Ski Team for both practices and ski meets.

For the safety of users and staff ice rinks and sledding hills are closed when the temperature is -10 degrees or lower or the wind chill is -15 degrees or lower, according to the weather report one hour before the scheduled opening.

The policy has been set for use of sledding hills and ice rinks during cold weather to conserve energy and also for the safety of the users and staff.

Updates regarding warming house and ice rink closures due to extreme cold weather or unsafe conditions due to warm weather are posted to this page as they are determined.

Race down the sledding hill on a snow tube, explore scenic trails by cross-country ski, or lace up ice skates for outdoor fun.

A limited inventory of snow tubes, ice skates, kicksleds and cross-country skis (youth and adult) are available to check out for free during warming house hours at the Staring Lake Park Building.
