Last Saturday the EPPD worked with the National Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to host a Drug Take Back event at the Eden Prairie Senior Center.
People were able to drop off unused or expired medication for free and the EPPD safely disposed of it. At the event 305 pounds worth of unused medication was collected.
If you missed the drop-off and have medication that you would like to dispose of in a safe manner, the EPPD has free home medication disposal bags that can be picked up at Eden Prairie City Center, 8080 Mitchell Road, Monday–Friday from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. The bags contain activated carbon which neutralizes the medication and prevents it from contaminating ground and drinking water. The bags are funded by the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund.
Please note the EPPD does not accept medication drop-offs at our department. Hennepin County has drop box locations to safely dispose of large or small quantities of medication.
