In 2007 Officer Jess Irmiter became a K-9 handler with partner Brix.
In 2007 after extensive research and training, the department's officers began carrying TASERs as a tool to minimize the risk of injury to officers and suspects.
In 2004 the Police Reserves began serving as a Color Guard, raising and lowering the flags on all city buildings.
In May 2008 Officer Jeff Berg passed away after a battle with cancer. A new park bench outside the Department's night lobby was dedicated in Officer Berg's memory in 2009.
In March 2008 Eden Prairie hosted its first Polar Plunge which raised $39,000 for the Minnesota Special Olympics.
In 2006 the department began adding Dodge Charger squad cars to its fleet.
In September 2008 the Eden Prairie Police Department assisted in providing 1,689 hours of security at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul.
On July 1, 2005, the department’s patch changed as part of a city-wide rebranding. The old patch is worn by officers on the left; the new patch is worn by officers on the right.
In November 2002, Chief Jim Clark retired and Dan Carlson was appointed Chief.
When Chief Dan Carlson retired in January of 2007, City Manager Scott Neal appointed Deputy Chief Rob Reynolds to serve as Chief effective January 27, 2007.
